Title The Adventures of Merry and Pippin /chapter three

Not daring to stop for lunch Incas the orc’s found them again, Merry and Pippin set of along the Harad road. Merry hummed a tune as they walked. The hums of the tune soon turned in to words and Merry started to sing;

The road that’s twisty course and rough,
Is the one that’s labelled tough.
Let them follow it how can,
From the door where it began.
This road will now go ever on,
Now its map at last has gone.
No thing can soothe my aching feet,
Now the end of this road I can not meet.

“You don’t mean to say that you have lost the map?”
“Of course not. It was just in the song.” Said Merry.

They carried on with their hike along the Harad road. Before long the sky grew darker again, making it hard for the two hobbit’s to see.
“If only we had a gift like Frodo’s,” Merry told his companion “then we could see where we are going.” Merry of course was talking about the star glass Frodo had received from the lady of Lorien. A light when all other lights go out!
“Yes that shore would be a useful thing to have with us right now.” said Pippin as he stumbled like a blind man along the Harad road. Not even the light of the moon shone through the miserable clouds in the sky.
“Do you think we are far enough away from the orc’s?” Merry asked.
“I suppose so. Let’s set up our camp heir to night.”
They turned in to a patch of trees and hung Merry’s cloak on one of the lower branches. It was Merry’s turn to keep watch to night. After a wad of lembas each, Pippin settled down to sleep while Merry kept watch.

That night was as silent as the last.
